APPLY TO BE A COACH
Thank you for your interest in coaching your son or daughter's basketball team. Coon Rapids Cardinals Basketball Club is a volunteer-run organization and wouldn't exist without volunteers like you!
CRCBC is a member of Trusted Coaches. The Trusted Coaches online training and educational program provides our youth coaches with concussion instruction, a nationwide criminal background check, and certification in the Positive Coaching Alliance Double-Goal Coach® course. Coaches are issued a Trusted Coach Membership Card and placed on the Trusted Coaches National Registry upon completion. If you are selected to coach or assistant coach a team, you will be required to complete the online training at no cost to you.
As a coach, you will be responsible for working with a team of 8-10 players, planning and executing practice plans, and coaching the team during warm-ups and games.
Please fill out the coach application. Board members will be interviewing coaching applicants and selecting coaches and assistants for each team formed after tryouts.
COACHING RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct a pre-season parent meeting during the first few weeks of your practice season.
- Communicate with your parents as a group weekly once games begin so that everyone is informed of upcoming events and activities.
- Plan and be prepared for each practice.
- Player skill-development should be of greater influence than game preparation and plays.
- Practices should be split between skill development and game development. The amount of each will be dependent on the grade level, time of the season, and the skill level of each player/team.
- Be punctual to each practice and game, allowing time to meet before warm-ups begin.
- Know the rules of the sport and abide by them.
- Instruct team members in the rules of the game and motivate each player to compete according to the rules at all times.
- Meet with your team immediately following each game of a tournament to reflect.
CRCBC MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Coon Rapids Cardinals Basketball Club is to provide an opportunity for girls and boys in the Coon Rapids High School Attendance area to enhance their basketball skills in a structured, more competitive, team environment, preparing them for participation at Coon Rapids High School.

To receive full consideration to coach with the Coon Rapids Cardinals Basketball Club you will need to:
- Complete the online registration application completely.
- Complete an interview.
- Attend player evaluations, required coaches meetings, and coaches clinics offered by the organization. Dates and times will be communicated via email to the email address listed on your account.
- Complete the online Trusted Coaches training, which includes a criminal background check.
